I have found David son of Jesse, a man as my heart, that will perform all my pleasure (Acts 13.22b).
The Lord Himself gives testimony of David. He is one of my favorite Bible characters who, perhaps because he was a person who has made mistakes, was not perfect. I think it's any consolation. So why even so God gives this testimony concerning him? I do not intend to enumerate all the qualities of a Man In the Heart of God, but some that can help us:
1 - Courage - The second man is the heart of God Intrepid why he believes that the capacity that has not come from him but from the Lord (2 Cor 3:4-5).
One of the most popular stories of the Bible is that of the young David fighting Goliath. David had been sent by his father to see how the battle were his brothers. He came upon a scene that intrigued him: The Goliath confronting the Israeli army. During 40 days, Goliath out to challenge Israel to send one man to fight him. The winner of the duel would the people of the opponent as a slave (1 Sam 17:4-11). It was the destiny of the nation was at stake, but all declined compared to that challenge.
At this time David comes in and, outraged by the situation, going to King Saul and offers to the duel. Saul said, "You can not afford to fight this Philistine; you're just a boy, and he is a warrior from the youth. " (1 Samuel 17:33 NIV)
David told his testimony of faith: Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God. David said: The Lord delivered me from the paw of the lion and the bear: he shall deliver me from the hand of this Philistine. Then Saul said to David, Go, and the LORD be with you. (1 Samuel 17:36-37 NIV)
David showed his boldness, he could not see how people saw it: small, weak and unable to fight the giant. But he believed he could win the giant as he was with the lion and the bear. But he credited all glory to the Lord.
