Solomon loved the Lord (1 Kings 3.3) and sacrificed a thousand burnt (v. 4). As much as we talk about loving God, there's only one way to prove it: acting ( also read: love ). He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is that loveth me: and he that loves me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him. (John 14:21 KJV)
That same night the Lord appeared to him in dreams and said, Ask what I shall give thee.
The Bible tells us that we so badly and did not receive (James 4.3). I wonder how many opportunities we receive the visitation of the Lord and waste. That has not happened with Solomon.
We know that Solomon was very young. And like any person of his age, had many dreams and desires in your heart. It is a natural human tendency to try to satisfy their own interests and forget the purpose of the Creator. But this test when so many disappoint God, Solomon passed with flying colors.
Even full of desires and dreams, which were known by the Lord (1 Kings 3:11), did not hesitate to receive the divine visitation responding: And Solomon said, with great kindness thou hast shown thy servant David my father, as he walked before thee in truth , and in righteousness and in uprightness of heart with thee, and thou hast kept for him this great kindness and gave him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. Now therefore, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father, and I am but a little child, or know how to go out or enter. And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that it can neither told nor numbered for multitude. The thy servant therefore give an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who can judge this thy so great a people? (1 Kings 3:6-9 KJV)
Solomon acknowledged that the position he occupied was already a great gift of God. Soon after it also recognizes its position as a servant and the Lord touched the heart showing a desire to care for His people. He knew how precious in the sight of God is the people whom he chose. There is an old saying that parents recited: "Who sweetens the mouth of my son sweeten my mouth." At this point the mouth of Solomon sweetened our loving Father
Solomon gave up her dreams to fulfill the dreams of God. How many things we receive, but we can not let our selfish desires and do not understand why God does not answer. Would we be able to give up our dreams, to fulfill the dreams of God? The Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ is different from what the world teaches us to live we must die (John 12:24, Rom 6:2-4), to receive we must give (Luke 6:38), to be the greatest must be the smallest (Luke 22:26).
John says: And this is the confidence we have in him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know we have the requests which we did. (1 John 5:14-15 KJV)
Before we ask we know what the Lord wants from us. , nos atenderá. Thus our God who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20), we will meet. It happened, Solomon showed interest in pleasing the Lord and in response he got everything he dreamed: And to what gave you not asked, both riches and honor: so that there is your equal among kings, for all thy days. (1 Kings 3:13 KJV)
Let us dream the dreams of God. Certainly we will not be disappointed by the Lord. For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and the work of charity, to his name, to show, while still ministered to the saints and serve. We desire that every one of you show the same diligence to the end, full assurance of hope, (Heb 6:10-11 KJV).
