It happened that one year has elapsed, the time when kings go forth to war, David sent Joab and his servants, and all Israel, and they destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah, but David stayed at Jerusalem (2 Samuel 11:1)
David lived a very good moment in your life. King was a respected and feared. Perhaps, therefore, he did not go to war, despite the bible saying it was time to go.
The apparent complacency that David lived is very common in humans. Many people who believe in the Lord, after a period relents toward ease and forget what Jesus said: Think not that I came to bring peace on earth: I came not to bring peace but a sword (Matthew 10:34). The Lord calls us to war, so he brought the sword is a weapon of attack. There is a war being waged in the spiritual world. And from the days of John the Baptist until now, it does violence to the kingdom of heaven, and take it by force (Matthew 11:12).
But the people of God not wanting to know much of the war. E Jesus lhe disse: Ninguém, que lança mão do arado e olha para trás, é apto para o reino de Deus (Lucas 9:62). Não dá para olhar para trás . By experiencing the benefits of the Lord accommodate themselves and forget they were called to war. The just shall live by faith and if he flinches r, my soul has no pleasure in him (Hebrews 10:38). We can not retreat. And Jesus said to him, No man, having put his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God (Luke 9:62). You can not look back.
(2 Sm 11:2-15). David a man after God's heart, experienced a situation that those who sit back and let the war experience: He fell into sin. He committed adultery and murder (2 Samuel 11:2-15).
The reason many men and women of God fall into sin today is because they have left to go to war. Need, therefore, to me, afflictions, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one argues that entangles himself with the affairs of this life in order to please him who enlisted him to battle. And if a man also argues, is not crowned unless legitimate military (2 Timothy 2:3-5).
Many are embarrassed by the affairs of this life. And that which fell among thorns, these are the ones who heard, go forth, are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to perfection (Luke 8: 14).
But why does this happen? Because we lost the target?
By faith he sojourned in the land of promise as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. He looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. All these died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and believing them and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland . And if, in fact, be mindful of that from which they came, they would have opportunity to return. But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, because it has prepared for them a city. (Hebrews 11:9-10,13-16)
We missed the target because we forget that we are strangers in this land. And that while we are here, we have to go to war. We can not rest.
Some people ask why the poor immigrants arrived in Brazil and prospered? I can answer: Because he was aware that this land is not his. Being an outsider had to do more than the sons of earth. Do not waste your time on distractions and concentrate on your goal, worked hard. (Lucas 17:10) . It's not what Jesus says? So likewise ye, when ye all that are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants, because we have done what we should do (Luke 17:10).
Beloved, when I write to you with all diligence about the common salvation, I was constrained to write unto you, and exhort you to contend earnestly for the faith once delivered to the saints (Jude 1:3)
