Rumors have been circulating around about a supposed end of the world in 2012. The first question to ask is: Are you a Christian? If your answer is yes, you should not believe these things because you should rule this issue of THE END OF THE WORLD in the Holy Bible. If neither Jesus and the angels know the day and time, as one would know? The Mayan civilization? I can say that they were very creative to have a calendar that goes until 21/12/2012, for neither men conceived of the modern computer had thought to go that far. Remember the famous millennium bug ?
That will not happen this supposed End Times in 2012, does not mean we should relax about this issue. In the above text we see Jesus saying that His coming would be like the days of Noah. We know that time there was much sin on earth (Gen. 6:1-6), but Jesus here does not refer to them. But he says they were eating, drinking, marrying and giving in marriage. He did not point out sin. Why is it?
Eating and drinking is essential for sustaining life. Getting married is part of the commandment to multiply. (Genesis 1:27-28). To understand I can give a key phrase contained in the text: And knew not.
The purpose of the Apostolic action of Jesus was to alert people to distraction. They did not realize because, even though they have knowledge of God, Noah and his ark, were distracted. They lived busy with their daily activities and did not value the preaching of Noah (2 Peter 2.5). Jesus also tells us about the distraction in the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:22). And he warns Martha, the sister of Lazarus: But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came and said, Lord, do You not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? Bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answering said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things but one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken. (Luke 10:40-42 KJV)
Today the church of Christ we see many people distracted with much serving. This also includes the church service. Martha was working to serve Jesus. Some people almost do not attend church, say they have no time. I also do not read the Bible, much less, to pray, but in a moment of despair. But do not stop tithing, as if that were the most important. What Jesus has to say about it: Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For what you tithe mint and dill and cummin and have neglected the more important of the law, justice, mercy and faith; you must, but do these things and not miss those. (Matthew 23:23 KJV)
Television today is the largest entertainment medium and as such, has dictated the rules of what to wear, eat, think, behave, etc.. We can see today, not only on TV or in theaters, movies and stories that have the sole purpose of vilifying the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus and execrate the veracity of the Bible.
But if our gospel is veiled to those who are lost are hidden, in which the god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, lest they see the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God . (2 Cor 4:3-4 KJV)
As the understanding can be covered? Through distractions. Entertainment is big business world and the deception of Satan to keep people distracted and forget or do not believe the Word of God. I think that any tool can be used for specific purposes be they good or bad. Even the entertainment and fun in moderation is good for humans, after all we are also meat. But as aa Bible warns: We know that we are of God and the whole world lieth in wickedness. (1 John 5:19 KJV)
Television, Games, Internet, movies, trips, etc.. Whatever it is, can have no more to our attention that our communion with Jesus. This will be a constant struggle.
Beloved! We should stop to think how far our involvement with the fun and entertainment has left us blind and deceived. Let us watch and pray. Be sober because our opponent tries to swallow us up using the pitfalls.
