Now I say, only now I know the Lord in truth! Before I knew Him only by hearsay. (Job 42:5 TLB)
At the end of the book of Job, he comes to a conclusion very important. Despite being a godly man and that it was His own testimony, he knew the truth. Unfortunately this is very common, many Christians do not yet know the Lord, just hear about Him. We Christians have a great advantage over Job: The Holy Spirit of God poured out upon our lives.
Characteristics of Who Only Hear About God, but do not know yet:
- Anxiety - Job reaches this conclusion by the end of the book (Job 42.5), indicating that the beginning was not so. So we should turn to Job 3:25-26: What I fear upon me, and I fear happens to me. I have no rest, nor peace, nor rest, and I have been big trouble. We can see that Job did not live in peace, quiet. This is a strong character who does not know God, live in constant worry, stress. Jesus said: Do not be anxious (Luke 12:22). Paul also writes that in Philippians 4:6.
- Do not keep the commandments, God's Word - The fact that a person attending a church and even be labeled a Christian does not mean that you practice the Word and God's Commandments. And 1 John 2:4 (KJV) makes this very clear: He that saith, I know him and keepeth not his commandments is a liar, and it is not true.
- Stays in Sin - Therefore, if we stay with Him, and we are obedient to him, not sin also, but those who continue to sin, should understand this: they sin because they really never knew him or came to be (BV 1JN 3:16)
What to do to meet him?
As I said earlier, we Christians have a great advantage over Job How so? We see Jesus praying for Peter not to faint in faith (Luke 22:32). And later we can see Peter, although he denied Jesus, leading the Church, raising the dead, healing the sick, etc. ..
But we do not realize is that Jesus also prayed for us. I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, so it is with you forever-the Spirit of truth, whom the world can not receive, because the neither sees Him nor knows Him; you know Him, for He dwells with you and be in you (John 14:16-17).
But what? For, like Peter, do not give up on faith. How? Walking in the Spirit. I say then, Walk in the Spirit and not fulfill the lust of the flesh (Gal 5:16). If you do not fulfill the lust, there is no sin.
But also by the need to have a Comforter. Ecclesiastes 4:1 (KJV) says: Then I turned and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold, the tears of the oppressed and those who have no comforter; and the strength of the band was their oppressors, but they had no comforter.
There's more, back to the topic at hand, the Bible states that q hen he, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you into all truth: He will not speak for yourself, but tell all that they have heard and will declare to you things to come (John 16:13). Jesus said that He is truth (John 14:6). The Holy Spirit, the Comforter will guide us in the knowledge of the Lord. You still have doubts, then read this:
However, we show wisdom among those tested, yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the rulers of this age, which were reduced to nothing, but we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, once hidden, which God ordained from eternity to our glory (...) But God hath revealed them through the Spirit: for the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God (1 Cor 2:6-7,10).
(Ef 3:18-19). The Holy Spirit was sent for the purpose of knowing God better, as it says in verse before, the depths. In order to be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye may be filled with all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:18-19).
Jesus said to his disciples: I have yet many things to say, but ye can not bear them now (John 16:12). Soon after, he said he would send the Comforter. So we can know God. No more just to hear him. Know and persevere in the knowledge (the 6:3). The problem is that many people do not keep up, but the knowledge of God is infinite as He is eternal.
Job discovered this, and we when we wake up to this fact?? Remember we have more than Job, we have the Holy Spirit, our Comforter. There are many people suffering for lack of a Comforter, but Jesus sent him to us. Unfortunately, the demons oppressors are still prevalent on many lives. Some people even baptized in the Holy Spirit, not the hear and do not approach him. And why not make use of this gift that God gave us.
