Rahab was a prostitute who had his name engraved in it customarily called THE GALLERY OF FAITH Hebrews cap.11. "By faith Rahab the harlot did not perish with the unbelievers, receiving the spies with peace" (Hebrews 11:31) . Rahab was able to save his entire family. And with it is that we learn a little.
The people of Israel was coming to the Promised Land of God and had received the order to destroy all the nations (Deut. 7:1-2). And Jericho was a strongly walled city, most of that region. But he was doomed to destruction. Today could say that this world we live in is a great Jericho. And that one day will be destroyed. For already left the sentence: But the day the Lord will come like a thief in the night, in which the heavens shall pass away with great noise, and the elements, burning, shall be dissolved, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up (2 PE3: 10).
Joshua sent two spies into Jericho (Joshua 2:1). And Rahab receives and hides them (Joshua 2:4). It'll take lessons on how to save our family's destruction.
Step 1: She heard of the greatness and power of God and believed (Joshua 2:8-11). You must hear the Gospel and believe the Word of God (Rom. 10:14, 17). Many still believe even though they have not heard (Romans 10:16). The Scripture declares: Believe on the Lord Jesus and be saved and thy house (Acts 16:31).
Step 2: It took an attitude by their faith (Joshua 2:2-8). By hiding the spies of Israel, Rahab was in danger of losing his life, if the soldiers of Jericho found out. Taking an attitude of faith often requires risk. Risk of being ridiculed, risk of losing friends, jobs, etc.. But when it is convinced of the greatness and power of God do not fear. Fear not, for I am with thee: be not dismayed, for I am thy God: I will strengthen you and help you, and uphold thee with the right hand of my justice. Behold, all will be ashamed and they that were incensed against thee shall be nothing, and they that strive with thee shall perish. Thou shalt seek them, but shalt not, those who contended with thee will be nothing, and as something that is nothing, that war against thee (Isaiah 41:10-12).
Step 3: She interceded for her family (Joshua 2:12-14). These men represented the people of the God of Israel. Then she asked for the salvation of her and her family. To make them free from the destruction that happened there. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective (James 5:16 b). For every creature of God is good, and there is nothing to be rejected, being received with thanksgiving. Because the word of God and is sanctified by prayer (1 Tim 4:4-5).
Step 4: She witnessed the greatness and power of God. This is implied in fact her whole family being assembled inside your house (Joshua 6:22-24). The Bible does not say how long they stayed in that house. But we can say that was at least 7 days. This was the number of days that Israel surrounded the city of Jericho. Now, because the people remained in that house for so long a period? Because of the testimony that Rahab had given to his family. She witnessed the power of God, the imminent destruction of the city, the event with the spies and the promise they had made to give life.
And Joshua Rahab the harlot alive, and her family of her father, and all he had, and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day, because she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho. (Joshua 6:25). In the same way Jesus came to give life and life abundantly (John 10:10).
The blessing of his family begins with you. Then take the necessary steps ...
